Welcome to Buffalo Sage Candle Co., where every candle is more than just a scent—it’s a feeling of warmth, comfort, and home.
I’m Amanda May, the heart behind Buffalo Sage Candle Co. As a wife and mom in a beautifully chaotic blended family with eight kids (mostly boys—who, let’s be honest, aren’t exactly known for smelling great), I know firsthand how important it is to create a home that feels safe, welcoming, and full of love.
Life has thrown its share of challenges my way. I’ve weathered storms, battled postpartum depression and anxiety, and navigated the ups and downs of PTSD and ADHD. Through it all, one thing has remained constant—my deep desire to create a home where my kids always feel secure and loved. And for me, candles have always been a part of that.

I’ve had a lifelong love for candles—not just for their soft glow and soothing ambiance, but for the way they instantly transform a space. A good candle can make a house smell and feel like “home,” wrapping you in comfort after a long day. That’s the feeling I want to share with you.
Buffalo Sage Candle Co. is inspired by strength and resilience. The buffalo represents endurance and determination, while sage is known for its cleansing and calming properties—together, they symbolize the balance of pushing through life’s challenges while creating a peaceful, comforting space.

Beyond candles, I am passionate about encouraging others to share their stories—because our struggles don’t define us, but they can help someone else who’s fighting the same battles.
I believe in breaking the stigma around mental and emotional health and ending the idea that women have to have it all together all the time. We don’t. And we’re not meant to do this alone.
I’ve battled postpartum depression twice—after my second baby in 2008, and again after my fourth in 2022. And while we’ve come a long way in how we talk about PPD, the truth is… it’s still not talked about enough.
Both times, I remember just wishing someone would look me in the eye and say, “Me too.” I wanted to hear that I wasn’t broken. That I wasn’t “crazy.” That I wasn’t alone.
Because the silence around it? That was almost heavier than the depression itself.

If you're struggling right now—please hear this: you are not alone.
So many of us have walked through dark seasons. We’ve felt the weight. And it’s time we start talking about it—louder, braver, and with more honesty than ever before.
Our sons and daughters are watching. And they don’t need perfection—they need truth. They need to know it’s okay to not be okay. That facing the hard stuff doesn’t make you weak—it makes you wise. Hiding our emotions only deepens the pain, and it passes down a legacy of silence we’re no longer willing to carry.
It’s up to us to break that cycle.
We don’t run from the storm—we face it. We show the next generation what it looks like to walk through the hard with grace, courage, and community. Because pretending everything’s fine only creates a world where everyone feels alone.
So let’s be the ones who say, “Me too.”
Let’s be the ones who face the storm—together.
At Buffalo Sage Candle Co., each candle and wax melt is hand-poured with care, designed to bring light into your life—whether you need a moment of peace, a touch of inspiration, or just a fresh-smelling home (especially if you also have a house full of boys).
Thank you for being here. I hope my candles bring warmth and joy into your life, just as they have in mine
With love and light,
Amanda May
